SPAM!
- The Free Ride
Email spam is messages from companies or businesses that have gotten a
hold of email and send the user multiple messages regarding purchasing a
product from the company, signing up for a website etc. Email spam doesn't cost
anything and that’s why people use it so much.
- The “oceans of spam” problems
Spam messages are huge problems because even after you press the REMOVE
button it might not exactly block the user.
- The theft of resources
With the increasing number of resources used for creating spam messages,
the easy ability to find the emails of multiple receipts gives many companies
such as Quantum Communications an easy route to take to gather the emails of
many recipients, thus creating spam messages.
- It’s All Garbage
Many times spam mails contain to reasonable or worthy object that are
being advertised. Spam messages are fake and will affect you in a bad way.
- They’re Crooks
Spam software always comes with a list of names that are not correct.
People use false information from their names to their birth dates. Be sure to
not believe anything.
- It may be illegal
It may be illegal. Certain types of spam are illegal in some countries
on the Internet. Especially with pornography, the mere possession of such
material may be sufficient to put the recipient in prison. Many times such
attachments or text may be contained just for the recipient to open disturbing
images, or take time to delete them. United States, child pornography is highly
illegal and we have already seen child pornography spammed offer.
NEXT!
Spam is one the most annoying things in the
email system. Sending e-mail
in bulk is so cheap that even if only a handful of people respond, there's a
profitable payoff for the spammer. Some things a person can do to stop this would be the following:
1. Spammers are an irritation and if
you post your email address in groups, websites, chat rooms, blogs, and social
networking sites the chances of you getting spam emails, and irrelevant things
are pretty high. But the first step would be to secure your email address. You
shouldn’t give others your email address when either, you don’t need too when
you don’t trust them.
2. You can also keep your account safe
and secured by creating 2 emails, one for important things and one for only
shops, blogs and etc. This way all your important things will stay out of
spammer’s hands and will be safe. You can give your important email’s address
to friends and family you trust.
3. You should always keep
your account secure by updating everyday. If you see a user that is sending you
false or spam emails then you should mark him as junk mail, and all his mail
will go directly to junk mail rather than your inbox. It will also be checked,
and will be secure.
4. Whenever you think that
there are many spam messages that are being sent to you then you can use the
software for anti-spam. You should always use soft wares that save your emails
and even your computer.
5. If you ever get mails
that you think are fake or you have any doubts about and they tell you to
reply, DON’T. Make sure that you don’t reply and never give them any important
information.
6. After receiving dozens of unwanted messages, a natural
reaction is to fire off a nasty missive. Resist the urge. It could backfire,
resulting in more, not less spam.
7. Make sure that the site you are viewing is secure before
you give them your email. And get some feedback from others that have used it
before.
8. Your address may be listed with people finder services,
such as Yahoo! People Search and other directories that are goldmines for
spammers. To prevent your address from being harvested, e-mail these lookup
services and ask them to remove your name.
9. A number of government agencies and private organizations
accept complaints. Whether they can actually do anything to stop the deluge is
an unanswered question.
10. ALWAYS delete your spam, and make sure it gets deleted
and also send them to junk!
